Affordable Housing

Design and Construction Management of affordable housing in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. The residence illustrated (under construction) was designed and constructed under the U.S. Virgin Islands Affordable Housing Program. Hurricane-resistant by design, the house was engineered to withstand high winds, heavy rainfall, and flooding associated with tropical storms and hurricanes.

Completed at a total construction cost of $60,000, the fully finished two-bedroom home includes reinforced concrete walls, a rainwater collection cistern, a covered entrance porch, complete interior and exterior finishes, and fully equipped kitchen and bathroom facilities. The project cost also included site improvements, such as the construction of the access road.
